Approaches

Somatic IFS

Somatic IFS uses five practices to deepen your experience by using your body as a point of reference for those parts that do not have language and making sense of those parts that use words.

  • Somatic awareness is the open door to the sensations in your body.

  • Conscious breathing which helps you find your voice from within by using your breath as a point of reference.

  • Radical resonance where we connect with ourselves and each other. It takes us from the vertical (self and part relationship) to the horizontal (you and I). Horizontal alignment moves us from I to WE—a space where we do not feel alone.

  • Mindful movement where we become aware of the movements of our body little by little with curiosity and compassion. Creating a space where our bodies can be seen without judgment so it can express what has been frozen in time and needs to be liberated.

  • Attuned touch As a society, we need this practice the most after the pandemic. Our skin is thirsty for connection and love. But at the same time, our bodies are terrified to be hurt again because people have used unhealthy touch to abuse us. So our bodies need to experience a new way of touch: healthy touch, loving touch, caring touch, etc.

Ultimately the intention of Somatic IFS is for us to use these practices so we can embody our humanity and feel fully alive to be to become and belong. To learn more, please visit: About Somatic IFS | embodiedself
